A 16-year-old boy from Kissimmee tragically lost his life following a dirt bike crash in Osceola County on Sunday evening. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Marigold Avenue, just south of Peabody Road. The driver was reportedly traveling north in the southbound lane when he swerved to avoid colliding with an oncoming Chevrolet Traverse. Unfortunately, the maneuver led him to strike a metal pole on the shoulder of the road, resulting in both the rider and his 18-year-old passenger being thrown off the bike.
Emergency responders rushed the 16-year-old to Poinciana Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries. His passenger, who also resides in Kissimmee, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center. The driver of the SUV, alongside two other passengers, remained at the scene and were unharmed. Notably, neither of the dirt bike riders was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Authorities indicated that the investigation into this tragic event is ongoing.
