A bicyclist died after an early morning crash involving an SUV at 15th Street East and 61st Avenue East in Manatee County on Saturday, July 11.

Authorities said the collision happened at about 4:30 a.m. A 2008 Honda CR-V was traveling south on 15th Street East as a male bicyclist moved east across the roadway from the west shoulder, south of the intersection with 61st Avenue East. Investigators said the bicyclist entered the SUV's path, and the Honda struck him.

After the impact, the SUV overturned and then hit the rear side of an unoccupied 2011 Cadillac SRX parked on the east grass shoulder, according to authorities. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries and later died. The 38-year-old Bradenton man driving the Honda was not reported injured. No injuries were reported for anyone connected to the parked Cadillac, which was unoccupied at the time.
