A fatal two-vehicle crash was reported June 19 at the intersection of Bay Head Road and Cherokee Street in Bay County.
Authorities said the collision happened at about 4:25 p.m. and involved an SUV and a pickup truck. Investigators said the SUV was traveling south on Cherokee Street as it approached Bay Head Road, while the pickup was heading west on Bay Head Road toward the same intersection.
Based on the preliminary account released by troopers, the SUV entered the pickup truck’s path in the intersection. The front of the pickup then struck the left side of the SUV in a side-impact collision. After the crash, the pickup came to rest south of Bay Head Road facing east, and the SUV came to rest in the intersection facing west.
The SUV driver, a 54-year-old Youngstown man, died in the crash, according to authorities. The pickup driver, a 40-year-old man from Panama City, was not reported injured. No names were released in the information made public.
