On October 25, 2024, at approximately 2:41 PM, a tragic vehicle accident occurred on South Wilcox Drive in Kingsport, Tennessee, resulting in the death of 32-year-old Cari Coates and injuries to her passenger and another driver. Kingsport Police responded to reports of a crash involving two vehicles in the 1100 block of South Wilcox Drive. Upon investigation, officers found that a 2018 blue Toyota 4Runner, driven by Cari Coates and carrying her passenger, 33-year-old Jessica Coates, was traveling south when it was struck by a 2011 maroon Honda CRV. The Honda, driven by 21-year-old Autumn S. Watts, reportedly entered traffic from the Roadrunner Gas Station, colliding with the passenger side of the Toyota.
