Fatal Car Accident in Madison County on Interstate 10 on August 19, 2026

A fatal wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 in Madison County left one woman dead and two others seriously hurt Wednesday evening, Aug. 19, 2026.

According to authorities, the two-vehicle collision happened at about 7:10 p.m. on I-10 near the 259 to 260 mile markers. Investigators said a sedan was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes before a head-on crash with an eastbound SUV.

A 35-year-old woman from Melbourne, who was driving the SUV, died after the crash. A 13-year-old girl from Melbourne who was riding in the SUV suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver of the sedan, a 29-year-old woman from Englewood, was reported seriously injured.

Heavy rainfall was reported in the area at the time of the crash. Authorities have not released additional details about what led up to the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
