A fatal three-vehicle crash was reported Thursday afternoon at East Colonial Drive and Crescent Blvd near Alafaya Trail in Orange County.
Authorities said all three vehicles were traveling westbound in the inside lane of East Colonial Drive before the collision. The vehicles involved were a Ford F-150, a Genesis, and a Toyota Prius. Based on the reported sequence, the pickup was stopped because of traffic ahead when the Genesis began slowing behind it.
Investigators said the Toyota Prius then struck the rear of the Genesis, pushing that vehicle into the back of the Ford F-150. The driver of the Toyota Prius died as a result of the crash. No name or additional identifying details had been released in the information available.
The Genesis driver and a passenger in that vehicle were taken from the scene with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The driver of the Ford F-150 was not injured and remained at the scene, according to authorities.
The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating the crash, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was also investigating the death of the Prius driver. Officials had not announced any further findings about contributing factors as of the latest report.
