Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened Sunday evening on Griffin Avenue just west of Grays Airport Road. Local reports said an 81-year-old man from Lady Lake was driving an SUV eastbound when it left the roadway and struck a guardrail and several trees.
The crash was reported at about 6:51 p.m. on June 14, 2026. The vehicle was identified as a 2026 Subaru Forester. Investigators said the SUV was traveling through a right-hand curve when it went off the left side of the road before hitting the guardrail and trees.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 79-year-old woman from Lady Lake who was riding in the SUV suffered serious injuries and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Officials have not released the names of the people involved. Authorities also said it was not yet known whether the SUV's occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
