According to authorities, the pickup was traveling north on US 41 when it approached the intersection with Palma De Coco Drive. Investigators said the van, driven by a 67-year-old Naples woman, was turning right from Palma De Coco Drive onto northbound US 41 when the pickup struck the van on its left side.
The van driver, later identified as Kimberly Anne Prior, 67, of Naples, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the impact also led to a second collision involving a Jeep driven by a 38-year-old Estero man, who reportedly suffered minor injuries. The pickup driver was reported to have non-incapacitating injuries.
Authorities have said the crash remains under investigation. Reports indicate a 35-year-old Bonita Springs man was later arrested in connection with the collision and faces charges including DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
