Two pedestrians were struck while crossing State Road 574 in Hillsborough County late Friday night, leaving one man dead and another with serious injuries.
Authorities said the crash happened around 10:50 p.m. west of North 68th Street on State Road 574. Some reports identified the roadway by its local name, Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. Investigators said a Chevy Equinox was traveling westbound when the two pedestrians entered the roadway and were hit.
A 42-year-old man from Leesburg died at the scene, according to authorities. A 54-year-old man from Miami suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The SUV driver, a 72-year-old Largo man, was not reported injured.
