A 32-year-old man from Providence, Utah, was killed after being struck by two vehicles while crossing US-92 in DeLand, Florida, early on October 18, 2026, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 5:25 a.m. at the intersection of US-92, also known as East International Speedway Boulevard, and County Road 4101, or North Kepler Road. Troopers said an 18-year-old woman from Fruitland Park was driving a 2000 GMC Sierra pickup eastbound in the inside lane of US-92. A 44-year-old DeLand man was driving a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas SUV eastbound in the outside lane. The two vehicles were approaching the North Kepler Road intersection. According to authorities, the pedestrian attempted to cross the eastbound lanes while the pedestrian signal displayed “Don't Walk.” The pickup driver had a green traffic light and swerved in an effort to avoid hitting him, troopers said. The pickup's right side struck the pedestrian, sending him into the outside lane. He was then struck by the SUV, according to the Highway Patrol's account of the collision. Neither driver was injured. Authorities said both drivers were wearing seat belts and stayed at the scene following the crash. The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash remained under investigation.
