A deadly three-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Edgewood Avenue West near Lem Turner Road left two teenage boys dead and sent two adults to the hospital, according to authorities in Jacksonville.
Investigators said the collision happened at about 11:15 a.m. on July 25. A Dodge 3500 pickup towing a large trailer loaded with two vehicles was traveling eastbound on Edgewood Avenue West when it struck the rear of a Toyota Camry near the intersection. The impact pushed the Camry into the back of a Ford Ranger and carried it through the intersection.
Authorities said the Dodge came to rest on top of the Camry. Two teenage boys who were in the Camry were pronounced dead. The 28-year-old Camry driver was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be removed by first responders before being taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford Ranger was also hospitalized and was reported to be in stable condition. No additional identifying details about the victims were included in the initial public reports.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash. Officials had not announced any charges or a final cause as of the initial reports, and the circumstances leading up to the impact remain under review.
