A woman and a man from Beavercreek, Ohio, died in a crash involving a car, van and tractor-trailer on I-12 near LA Highway 43 in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, on Friday, November 6, 2026. Louisiana State Police troopers were called to the scene late that night.
Investigators identified the driver of a 2017 Chevy Cruze as Daniel Dennison, 24, of Amite City. Police said he was traveling east on I-12 in the right lane, while a 2024 Mercedes Sprinter van was traveling east in the left lane.
Police said the Cruze moved into the left lane for reasons that had not been determined. Both vehicles entered the median and struck cable barriers. The Cruze came to a stop, while the Sprinter overturned and came to rest in the westbound lanes.
The van was then struck by a 2018 tractor-trailer traveling west on I-12.
The Sprinter's driver, a 54-year-old woman, and its passenger, a 47-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver had been wearing a seat belt, while the passenger had not.
The tractor-trailer's driver and passenger were both taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Dennison also suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police said he had not been wearing a seat belt.
Investigators said they believed Dennison was driving while impaired. Following his release from the hospital, Dennison was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail. Police listed the charges as careless operation, driving while impaired as a first offense, two counts of vehicular homicide, simple possession of marijuana, no seat belt and no insurance.
Louisiana State Police said the investigation into the crash was continuing.
