A fatal three-vehicle crash on Summit Boulevard near West Palm Beach claimed the life of a 17-year-old passenger Tuesday afternoon, and investigators are still working to determine all of the circumstances.
Authorities said the collision happened at about 1:33 p.m. on June 2 in the 5500 block of Summit Boulevard, near Summit Pines in Palm Beach County. Reports indicate a 2021 Tesla was traveling eastbound in the left lane while a dump truck was also heading eastbound in the right lane.
Investigators said the dump truck was occupying both eastbound lanes as it began turning down a canal bank to deliver materials. The Tesla then struck the left rear of the truck. After that initial impact, the Tesla was redirected into the westbound side of Summit Boulevard, where it collided with a GMC Yukon.
The teen who died was identified as Aiden Hill, 17, a passenger in the Tesla. The Tesla driver and the Yukon driver were reported to have minor injuries. The dump truck driver was not reported injured. Emergency crews also transported two people to a hospital following the crash.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating. At this stage, no additional findings about contributing factors or any final determination have been announced publicly.
