A woman suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday morning after a pedestrian-involved crash on Lincoln Drive in southwest Miami-Dade, according to authorities.
Investigators said the incident happened on Lincoln Drive just east of Southwest 154th Avenue. A pickup truck was reportedly traveling east when it struck the rear of a vehicle that had stopped in the roadway. Authorities said the woman had gotten out of that vehicle and was walking past its driver’s side when she was hit and became trapped underneath the truck.
Deputies said the driver then left the scene on foot rather than staying to help or call for assistance. A witness reportedly followed the man and directed Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies to a nearby property on Lincoln Drive, where he was found and taken into custody.
The injured woman was taken to Jackson South Medical Center. Local reports said she remained on life support after the crash. Her name and age were not released in the information available.
Authorities have not announced a final cause of the crash, and the investigation was still unfolding in the immediate aftermath. It also was not clear from the initial reports whether any additional roadway disruptions continued after emergency crews responded.
For families dealing with a serious crash on Lincoln Drive, records such as the sheriff’s office report, medical updates, photos, and witness information may become important while questions about insurance and next steps are sorted out.
