A car that police said had been reported stolen in Philadelphia struck a patrol vehicle and another vehicle during a police chase before crashing into a 7-Eleven at 1644 Street Road in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania, on Thursday afternoon, October 29, 2026. No injuries were reported from the collisions, and authorities said the store clerk was unharmed.
Police said the incident began along Brookwood Drive, where officers attempted to stop the red vehicle. It had been reported stolen in Philadelphia a few days earlier. The driver hit a police vehicle and drove away at high speed, then struck another vehicle before losing control while crossing Street Road and crashing into the store.
Three juveniles were in the car when it struck the building, according to police. Two other juveniles had been dropped off before the crash. The three occupants fled on foot afterward, and officers pursued them through the surrounding neighborhood. All five juveniles were Bensalem Township residents.
Bensalem Public Safety Director William McVey said police launched drones immediately after a license plate reader alert for the vehicle. The drones tracked the vehicle as it traveled and later helped officers find people who were running away or hiding. Police ultimately took all five juveniles into custody.
Witness Ann Norris said she saw the vehicle moving toward the store with its brakes applied before it went into the building. She described the occupants getting out and running almost immediately after the impact. The collision left an opening in the building and scattered structural debris and merchandise.
Nearby resident Alan Stone recorded video showing an officer restraining a person on the ground outside a home near the store. Stone said a neighbor had told him about the store crash before he saw people running nearby. He saw two people running, one along the street and another through a backyard. He also described another person tackling one of those fleeing before police converged on the area.
A Bensalem police officer suffered a leg injury while arresting one of the juveniles. Authorities described the injury as non-life-threatening. The officer was injured during the arrest rather than in the crash.
The juvenile driver remained in custody at the Bucks County Youth Detention Center. The other four juveniles were released to parents or guardians, police said. Authorities said the juveniles would face charges.
A tow truck removed the car from the damaged 7-Eleven around 4 p.m. Crews boarded up the building after the crash and spent Thursday night clearing debris. Workers expected the repair work to take weeks, leaving the store closed during that period.
