A vehicle hit a Gwinnett County police cruiser early Monday, October 26, 2026, on northbound Interstate 85 near Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Georgia. No injuries were reported in the multi-vehicle crash.
According to the Gwinnett Police Department, an officer was handling a separate incident on the interstate when the patrol car was struck. The impact forced the cruiser into another vehicle that was involved in the separate incident.
The officer was not inside the patrol car when the collision occurred. The officer’s identity was not released by the department.
The cruiser sustained damage, and its airbags deployed. A tow truck arrived at the scene to collect the damaged police vehicle.
