A pickup truck crash closed two streets in downtown Leesburg, Georgia, on Friday, October 30, 2026, after three light poles came down and wires landed in the roadway. The driver was not injured, according to Police Chief Christopher J. Prokesh.
Prokesh said the crash took place at about 7:15 a.m. near Fourth Street and Walnut Avenue, next to the Shell gas station. He identified the vehicle involved in the single-vehicle collision as an F-350 pickup truck and said it struck one light pole, setting off the collapse of two additional poles.
In discussing the circumstances of the crash, the chief relayed a statement from the driver, who said something had flown in front of him before the pickup struck the light pole. Police cited the driver for failure to maintain a lane. The driver's name was not given in the account of the crash.
Both Fourth Street and Walnut Avenue were closed in the aftermath of the collision. Traffic was diverted around the GA-3 bypass between Linden Road and Jordan Road. The diversion lasted for approximately two hours as traffic was routed away from the streets affected by the downed poles.
The roadway later reopened, although work to repair the damaged poles was still underway that afternoon. At about 4:30 p.m. Friday, utility workers and AT&T personnel were continuing repairs on the three poles, more than nine hours after the Friday morning crash.

After a crash in Leesburg, a police report, photographs and repair records can help document an insurance claim. A citation alone does not resolve every question of civil liability; a qualified attorney can explain how Georgia law may apply to the documented circumstances.
