Roy Deaver, 59, was killed when a vehicle struck him near 8th Street and Sheridan Road in east Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 23, 2026.
Christopher Hart has been charged with manslaughter in connection with Deaver’s death, according to court records. Tulsa police linked the fatal collision to a confrontation that began on the property of Johnny’s Auto Sales at the intersection.
Police said Deaver was living in a vehicle on the dealership property. Before the crash, he confronted Hart and two other people who had parked there after hours, according to investigators.
Authorities said Hart then chased Deaver away from the property. Witnesses described seeing someone pursue Deaver and throw objects at him before he ran into the street and was struck. The witness account was part of the police investigation into the events preceding the collision.
Police said Hart got into his car and departed before officers reached the scene. Homicide detectives found him the following day and questioned him about the incident.
During that interview, Hart said he had gone to the dealership to sell its owner stolen motor oil containers, according to police. He also told detectives that he saw a truck strike Deaver. Those statements were Hart’s account to investigators.
