A northbound semitruck struck a charter bus carrying a school group in Oklahoma City on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2026. Oklahoma City police placed the crash near Southeast 44th and Interstate 35.
The passengers included 24 seventh-grade students from St. John Catholic School in Lawrence and four chaperones. Principal Jeff Harkin said the students and chaperones were uninjured and able to continue their trip. The group’s itinerary included religious and cultural sites in the area.
Emergency responders removed the bus from a hotel parking lot after the collision. The reported location does not establish whether the impact occurred on the interstate or a nearby roadway.
Although the bus displayed K-State branding, it was not owned by the university. K-State athletics representative Kenny Lannou identified the vehicle as an Arrow bus.
