At least 12 people were injured in a Salem High School football team bus rollover in Conyers, Georgia, reported on October 23, 2026. The Rockdale County School District identified the crash location as Highway 138 near Interstate 20.
The bus was taking the team home when it overturned onto its side. The district said 27 people were aboard: 17 players, seven trainers, two coaches and one driver.
One trainer was airlifted to a medical facility. Ambulances transported other injured students and staff to area hospitals. The severity of individual injuries was not reported, and authorities had not confirmed the exact number of injured students.
Head coach Fredrick Green survived the crash and was working to find out where affected team members had been taken for treatment. The available information did not specify whether he was injured.
The bus came to rest in a ditch against a construction barrier near Old Salem Road. Its windshield, front end and roof were damaged. A heavy wrecker was used to recover the vehicle from the embankment.
Highway 138 near Interstate 20 was closed during the emergency response. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital went on standby for a possible mass-casualty response.
A nearby commercial parking lot served as a staging area for additional buses and a reunification point. Uninjured students could contact their families there before heading home.
Investigators had not released the cause of the rollover.
People affected by the Conyers bus crash can retain medical records, treatment expenses and any available crash-report information for insurance documentation. A qualified Georgia attorney can explain how claims procedures and filing deadlines may apply to their circumstances.
