A Lee County sheriff's deputy was struck by a car while investigating a school bus crash on Tice Street near Country Lakes Drive in Fort Myers. The incident was reported on October 26, 2026.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office reported that the deputy's injuries were non-life-threatening. The deputy was taken to a local hospital.
The deputy was investigating an earlier collision involving a school bus and a van. In its preliminary account, the School District of Lee County said the bus turned into the path of a van approaching from the opposite direction. Students were aboard the bus, and the district said everyone on the bus was okay.
Authorities reported that the school bus crash closed all lanes of Tice Street near Country Lakes Drive. The affected stretch was in front of Manatee Elementary and Oak Hammock Middle schools. The deputy was struck as the sheriff's office responded to that crash scene.
People involved in a Fort Myers crash can keep copies of available crash reports, medical records and insurance correspondence. A qualified Florida attorney can explain how those records and applicable insurance rules may relate to the circumstances.
