A tragic wrong-way collision on Interstate 55 early Friday morning claimed the lives of six individuals near the Daniel Lake Boulevard exit in Jackson, Mississippi. The crash, which occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m., involved a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. The vehicle collided head-on with a Hyundai Sonata carrying five passengers. Authorities, including the Jackson Police Department and emergency responders, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
All six victims were pronounced dead at the site of the accident. Among them were the 23-year-old driver of the Silverado, a resident of Scott County, and the occupants of the Sonata—a 34-year-old woman, a 30-year-old man, two 18-year-olds, and a 6-year-old boy, all from Copiah County. The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released, and authorities have not determined the cause of the crash. Local law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the devastating incident.
