A train collided with a tractor-trailer at a railroad crossing on West College Avenue near Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Video from the scene showed cargo from the truck scattered on the ground near the tracks. The train appeared to be a CSX train. What the tractor-trailer was carrying and whether the train sustained damage were not immediately known.
Police officers directed motorists through the area while crews responded to the collision in DeKalb County. The crash disrupted traffic near the college, but the extent of any road closures was not immediately clear.
Witness Treshaun Roberts said he was stopped at a red light when he heard the train sounding its horn. He initially thought little of the sound, then began recording when he noticed the tractor-trailer's engine revving loudly even though the truck was not moving.
Roberts said a small amount of smoke then began coming from the truck. He described the driver getting out of the tractor-trailer and running to safety. His account did not establish why the truck remained stationary.
Authorities had not released information about possible injuries or what caused the collision. The driver's reported exit from the truck does not establish that everyone involved was uninjured.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remained under investigation. No findings explaining how the train and tractor-trailer came to collide had been released.
