Shreveport police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash at Hollywood Avenue and Bethune Drive on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The collision involved a vehicle traveling west on Hollywood Avenue and another entering the road from Bethune Drive.
Patrol officers were dispatched to the intersection at about 2:07 p.m. following reports of a collision. On arrival, they encountered substantial damage to both vehicles and several people with severe injuries.
The department’s Crash Investigation Unit said the westbound vehicle was speeding. Investigators reported that the other vehicle entered Hollywood Avenue from Bethune Drive and was attempting an eastbound turn when it was struck by the westbound vehicle. All three people in the turning vehicle were ejected in the impact.
Shreveport Fire Department personnel transported the four people involved to Ochsner LSU Health for emergency care. The driver of the vehicle entering Hollywood Avenue died at the hospital. An adult passenger and a juvenile passenger from that vehicle remained hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The westbound vehicle’s driver received treatment for serious injuries.
Investigators determined that none of the three occupants in the turning vehicle had been wearing a seat belt. They also reported that no child safety seat was in use. Authorities did not release the victims’ names or exact ages.
The police department’s DWI Unit joined the inquiry because of the circumstances of the collision. The westbound driver voluntarily submitted a blood sample for analysis at the North Louisiana Crime Lab. Investigators had not established whether impairment played a role in the crash.
Crash investigators processed the scene, and the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office took custody of the deceased driver. Police said the driver’s family had been notified. The investigation remained open.
Police also urged drivers to reduce their speed, wear seat belts and ensure children are properly restrained. The department’s safety message emphasized that decisions made behind the wheel can affect multiple families.
