Last week, a tragic accident occurred about six miles west of Baxter on Highway 210, prompting investigations by local authorities. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision happened around 11 a.m. on Friday, when Amber Cloutier, a 31-year-old resident of Wadena, was driving a Chevy Monte Carlo as she attempted to exit Scearcyville Road Southwest and merge onto Highway 210's eastbound lane. Her vehicle was struck by a Hyundai Elantra driven westbound by 56-year-old Leesa Peacock from Motley.
Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch of Highway 210 near Scearcyville Road SW. Unfortunately, Cloutier was not wearing her seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries. Leesa Peacock, on the other hand, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital in Brainerd for treatment. Officials report that alcohol played no role in this accident, and investigations are ongoing.
