Fatal Motorcycle Accident in South Venice on U.S. 41 Near Baffin Drive on August 14, 2026

A fatal motorcycle crash was reported early Friday in South Venice along U.S. 41 near Baffin Drive, according to authorities.

Investigators said the crash happened at about 1:40 a.m. on Aug. 14. A 28-year-old Sarasota County man was traveling north on the east sidewalk of U.S. 41, also known as Tamiami Trail, north of East Baffin Drive, when he lost control of a 2008 Honda CRF motorcycle and fell to the ground.

The rider was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not publicly released his name.

The crash scene was in the area of Baffin Drive and U.S. 41 in South Venice. Northbound lanes of U.S. 41 were closed for a period while law enforcement and traffic investigators worked at the scene, then later reopened.
