Investigators in Broward County are reviewing a fatal pedestrian crash that happened at a truck stop in Pompano Beach on June 30, 2026. Authorities said the incident involved two semitrucks in a parking area and left one man dead.
Based on the preliminary investigation, one semitruck was parked alongside another tractor-trailer while Rodney Battle was inside the sleeper cab of the second truck. Investigators said Keno-Jac Rowe pulled his Peterbilt semitruck and enclosed trailer out of a parking space and was apparently unaware that MD Mridha was standing on the step of the nearby Kenworth truck.
As Rowe maneuvered out, authorities said the Peterbilt side-swiped the Kenworth. Mridha was pinned between the Peterbilt trailer and the Kenworth cab during the contact. Investigators said Rowe stopped after Battle honked, then got out and found Mridha on the ground.
Mridha was taken to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were identified in the information released publicly.
Authorities have said excessive speed and impairment are not currently suspected factors. The crash remains under investigation by traffic homicide detectives, and additional details about exactly why the incident occurred have not yet been announced.
For families and others affected, official crash reports, photographs, witness information, and any trucking or insurance records may become important as the investigation continues.
