Three passengers died and two other people in their car were injured in a collision with a parked tractor-trailer on northbound Interstate 95 in Martin County, Florida, on October 31, 2026. The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash was reported around 11:05 p.m. near mile marker 112.
Investigators said a 2017 Toyota Camry was traveling in the outside northbound lane before moving onto the right shoulder. The car then struck the back of a 53-foot trailer attached to a parked 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer. Authorities have not determined why the Camry moved onto the shoulder.
Following the impact, the Camry spun across all three northbound lanes before stopping on the highway’s left shoulder.
The passengers who died were a 34-year-old man, a 5-year-old boy and a woman whose age was not provided. All three were residents of Port St. Lucie, according to the Highway Patrol.
The Camry’s driver, a 31-year-old Port St. Lucie woman, sustained injuries authorities described as non-incapacitating. An 11-year-old girl who was also riding in the car suffered incapacitating injuries.
Both injured occupants were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center. The driver was transported by ground, while the girl was flown to the hospital by LifeStar.
The tractor-trailer’s driver, a 60-year-old man from Miami, was not injured. His truck was parked on the right shoulder at the time of the collision.
The crash closed northbound lanes of Interstate 95. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the collision, including the circumstances that led the Camry onto the shoulder.
