New York State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Brackett Road in the town of Hannibal, New York, on October 27, 2026. State Police responded to the crash scene at approximately 5:18 p.m.
The motorcycle rider was identified as Michael A. Kelly, 21, of Martville, New York. According to the preliminary investigation, Kelly was traveling east on Brackett Road on a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle when he appeared to lose control.
Police said Kelly was ejected from the motorcycle into the westbound lane of Brackett Road. He was then struck by a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling west, in the opposite direction from the motorcycle.
The pickup truck was being driven by Shaun W. Mercer, 52, of Hannibal, New York, according to police.
Kelly sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police said the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
