A serious crash involving a semi-truck and a van shut down part of southbound I-75 in Sarasota County on Thursday morning, leaving two people hospitalized and causing significant traffic disruption near Mile Marker 174.

Early reports indicate a Freightliner truck with a trailer and a Ford van were both traveling south when the truck struck the rear of the van.
