Early Wednesday morning, a tragic accident involving three semi-trucks resulted in one fatality and serious injuries for another driver on Florida’s Turnpike in Osceola County. The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. near mile marker 248, just south of Osceola Parkway. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the chain-reaction collision began when a 2018 semi with a double trailer traveling southbound failed to slow down for traffic ahead. The semi struck the back of a 2013 Volvo semi-truck, which was being driven by a 38-year-old man, pushing it into the rear of a 2025 Freightliner semi-truck driven by a 55-year-old man.
Following the impact, the 2018 semi-truck caught fire. Tragically, the driver of the 2018 semi died at the scene. The driver’s identity has not yet been confirmed, but authorities stated that formal identification will be completed by the medical examiner’s office, and the family will be notified.
