William R. Marbuery, 53, of Cleveland, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash involving a tractor-trailer in Frenchtown Township, Monroe County, Michigan, on Monday, October 26, 2026.
The collision happened at 2:18 p.m. on northbound I-75, north of Post Road. According to police, Marbuery was traveling in the center lane on a 2016 Harley-Davidson when the motorcycle hit the back of a trailer pulled by a 1992 Kenworth tractor.
Police said the impact caused Marbuery to fall from the motorcycle, which then caught fire. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Kenworth was driven by Jeffrey Pence Sandy, 62, of Romeo, Michigan. Police said Sandy was wearing a seat belt and brought the tractor-trailer to a controlled stop in the center travel lane.
Northbound traffic became congested after the collision. A lane closure north of the crash site reduced the interstate to one open lane.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities asked anyone with information to call 734-240-7725. People wishing to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
