A Chevrolet Tahoe operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents struck 37-year-old Antonio Moreida near Clover Street and College Street in Woodland on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, according to Woodland police. The collision was reported to police at 9:38 a.m. Authorities described Moreida’s injuries as minor. Medical personnel assessed him at the scene before he was taken to a hospital. Police said federal agents were conducting an operation nearby when the collision occurred. Moreida was walking in the roadway. He said he had gone to the area to document the agents’ activities. According to police, the Tahoe’s driver immediately contacted the department’s dispatch center after the collision and cooperated with investigators. A home surveillance recording showed Moreida walking in the street with a camera before the SUV struck him. Other footage captured the encounter from a different perspective. Investigators spent Tuesday collecting evidence, taking statements and examining audio and video recordings. Police said the footage they obtained included interactions between Moreida and federal personnel in the minutes before the collision. They were reviewing those recordings alongside other evidence to establish the sequence of events and the actions of both the pedestrian and the driver. Moreida later addressed the Woodland City Council during its Tuesday evening meeting, where community members expressed support for him. Woodland police said the department had not participated in the federal operation and was investigating the collision independently. Once that work is complete, police plan to forward their findings to the district attorney’s office for review. The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office declined to discuss the matter while the police investigation remained active.
