A two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 77 in San Patricio County claimed the life of an 80-year-old driver, Larry Wilkerson, from Odem. The incident occurred just north of Odem around 2:22 p.m. on November 27, the day before Thanksgiving. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Wilkerson was driving a 1989 Toyota Tacoma and failed to control his speed, leading to a collision with a 1998 Chevrolet C35 driven by 27-year-old Alex Gonzalez from Corpus Christi. The crash happened in the outside lane, where the Tacoma struck the back of the C35.

Following the impact, Wilkerson's vehicle veered onto the inside shoulder of the highway, while the Chevrolet came to a halt on the outside shoulder. Sadly, the accident resulted in significant injuries for Wilkerson, and he was pronounced dead by local Judge Danny Garza.
