Two Mission men died at the scene of a collision involving two pickup trucks at FM 1924 and Minnesota Road north of Palmview in Hidalgo County, Texas, according to authorities. The crash occurred at approximately 5:09 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Authorities identified the Ford driver as Leobardo Adan Garza, 53, of Mission. Margarito Vasquez Cano, 36, also of Mission, was driving the Toyota. The preliminary investigation found that Cano’s 2006 Toyota Tundra was traveling north on Minnesota Road toward FM 1924. Garza’s 2018 Ford F-150 was heading east on FM 1924 toward Minnesota Road. Each truck was occupied by a male driver. According to authorities’ preliminary account, the Toyota’s driver entered the intersection against a red traffic light, and the Toyota collided with the Ford. That finding was reported as part of the initial investigation into the collision. State troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the fatal crash.
