A 14-year-old girl died after a single-vehicle crash in Washington County, Vermont, on October 24, 2026. Police said the vehicle was traveling at high speed before the driver lost control on a curve and struck a tree. The 16-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. A 14-year-old girl died after a single-vehicle car crash in Washington County, Vermont, on Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2026.

Vermont State Police said the 16-year-old driver was traveling at high speed when the vehicle went out of control while rounding a curve and struck a tree.

The girl was a passenger in the vehicle. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt and sustained major injuries. She was flown to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash remained under investigation.
