Nebraska State Patrol troopers responded around 6:40 a.m. According to the patrol’s preliminary findings, the Sierra had been heading south on Highway 77 when it crossed the median and entered the northbound lanes.
The Sierra collided head-on with the Bronco, sending the Bronco into a spin. The GMC then hit the Escape. After the second impact, the Sierra and Escape left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch on the east side of the highway. The patrol reported major damage to all three vehicles.
Authorities identified the Sierra’s driver as Kevin Fonseca, 33, of Oklahoma. Troopers cited him for driving under revocation and reckless driving. The reported citations were separate from the patrol’s preliminary description of how the vehicles collided.
